Ann Sieg’s Marketing Tip E-Mail

Ann Sieg’s Latest E-Mail

Ann Sieg sent an e-mail today (5-20-08) to her Renegade list. The first half was a review of how the Renegade Marketer has not only changed her life so much, but how it has impacted the lives of so many other marketers in such a positive way.

While I have only been involved with the Renegade Marketer and Renegade University for not quite sixty days – I am seeing positive changes taking place. I believe that I am rapidly approaching the “Tipping Point” when I will quickly see the results we are all looking for.

Opportunity Cost

Ann Sieg continues in her e-mail that she believes there is one key factor that allows a person to breakthrough to the next level. To make that quantum leap forward in your business it is important to apply a “measuring stick” to how you spend your time .Warren Buffet considers this one item as the primary deciding factor when investing money.

As for us Renegade marketers it means how and where do we spend our time and energy. Where do we invest our time for maximum return? All super successful marketers/business owners value their time more than anything else.

Time Is Money

When we mention “assets” most people will think of things like stocks and bonds, real estate, precious metals, etcetera. Rarely do you see time on the list. In reality time is more valuable than all the others because it is the one thing you can’t bet more of.

When you choose to spend time on something, then by default you have chosen NOT to spend time on something else. The big question is have you chosen wisely?

If you choose to spend time on a less productive activity, then that means you have less time to spend on a more productive activity. Ann gives this tip that will virtually guarantee every day is a productive day. “Always take care of high value activities first thing everyday – or as close to first thing as you can get – no matter what.”

No matter what happens during the day after this – you will still have had a good day. Make a list with the most important, productive activities at the top – so when the end of the day comes there are no high value activities still on the list to do.

Ann gives a breakdown of business activity values:

Zero/Negative Value Activities

*Worry
*Idle chatter
*Surfing the internet
*Checking e-mail
*Instant messaging
*Figuring our excuses/reason shy something won’t work

Low Value Activities

*Prospecting
*Cold calling
*Attending “same old” company trainings and meetings that are little more than social events.
*Repetitive administrative work
*Errands for business
*Team call, after team call, after team call – can easily be over done.

High Value Activities

*Positioning yourself so that people seek you out
*Developing relationships with mentors and people you can learn from
*Studying copywriting and direct response marketing
*setting up sales and marketing systems that automate the grunt work for you and weed out all but the best prospects
*Setting up automated follow up systems that build relationships with prospects and customers

Ann Sieg makes special notice that she has placed prospecting under Low Value Activity. She states: “Prospecting is one of – if not the most un-leveraged methods for acquiring new customers/business builders there is.”

When you apply the principles of Web 2.0 Marketing you can attract thousands of qualified prospects in the same time it takes to physically contact one UN-qualified prospect.

Quote from “No B S time Management” by Dan Kennedy:

“If you’re looking for the answer that turns your time into the most money and wealth possible, then turn your attention to marketing.

Get free of as many other parts of your business as you can, get passionately interested in and good at marketing, and invest your time there… Marketing is the highest paid profession and MOST VALUABLE part of a business. The person who can create systems for acquiring customers, clients, or patients effectively and profitably is the “money person.” He is the equivalent of a “high impact” or “franchise” player in sports.”

Start your daily list today and always ask yourself what else could I be doing with my time? Will it help me get ahead faster?

Well time to go – got to make my list!
